These are some etchings of my women for my personal project. I wanted to try out soft ground etching, as I usually use hard ground with aquatint, mainly to see which would best suit the images I'm going to make. I think soft ground is going to work best, just because you can get more texture with it and see the pencil line rather than making sharp fine marks with hard ground. I also tried out using collage in the printing process. I really like this look and its a great way of getting some colour into the prints without using coloured ink to make the line coloured. I was just using cut outs from scraps of paper in the studio, but I like the effect and I think I'll use it for my women's 6 images.

As part of the book project I'm making endpapers for 'The Rainbow'. These are some examples of endpapers I've been looking at for inspiration. Because I'm using 4 colours in the spreads, I want the endpapers to have a simpler palette so they don't overshadow the spreads. I'm thinking of using 2 colours to make some kind of silhouettes.
