The Rainbow

I've been working on a book project for college over the last few months. We were asked to choose a book from a list and produce 5 colour spreads, 5 black and white spot illustrations, 3 book covers and endpapers. I chose to work on "The Rainbow" by D H Lawrence. I really enjoyed the book, it spans three generations of one family and is about the complexities of their relationships. Its starts in the 1860's and goes on to the early 1900s, so it also deals with industrialisation and the forming of a new modern generation. Its full of religious imagery and language and discusses the role religion plays within marriage.

When I went to the Museum of London, I got all this reproduction Suffragette stuff. There's some postcards, pamphlets, letters, a re print of a Suffragette newspaper and a membership card. I haven't scanned all of it in because I bought loads, but these are some of my favourites.

I went to the Peter Blake exhibiton at The Museum of Everything last week. It was basically loads of stuff he had collected like puppets, posters, dolls, signs, photgraphs. They were all amazing and I think everyone should go and see it while its here. Its in a great space in Primrose Hill too.
